Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony happening this weekend: Who will be inducted and who will pay tribute?
The highly anticipated Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set to take place this weekend in Los Angeles. This year’s event promises to be a star-studded affair, with a lineup of renowned musicians and special guests paying tribute to the inductees.
Among the artists being honored at this year’s ceremony are Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, and the late Brian Wilson, who will receive a special tribute performance by Elton John. Other inductees include Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Salt-N-Pepa, The White Stripes, Carole Kaye, Nicky Hopkins, Lenny Waronker, Thom Bell, and Warren Zevon.
Fans are eager to see if the iconic duos Outkast and The White Stripes will reunite for the event. While Andre 3000 and Big Boi of Outkast have not performed together since 2016, Rock Hall ceremonies have a history of bringing artists back together. Similarly, White Stripes drummer Meg White may make a rare appearance at the ceremony to accept the honor.
Notable special guests expected to be inducting and performing at the event include David Letterman for Warren Zevon, Jim Carrey for Soundgarden, and Missy Elliott, Beck, Brandi Carlile, Doja Cat, Killer Mike, Questlove, and Janelle MonĂ¡e.
During the ceremony, a connection to the artist is established through an induction presentation, followed by the artist performing a selection of their songs and giving an acceptance speech. In cases where the artist is unable to perform or accept the honor in person, other musicians step in to pay tribute. This was evident in past ceremonies, such as when Olivia Rodrigo and Sara Bareilles filled in for Carly Simon in 2014.
One of the highlights of the night will be Avril Lavigne’s performance with Cyndi Lauper, adding to the anticipation surrounding this year’s ceremony. Fans are also looking forward to seeing how Seattle music legends Soundgarden, who lost their frontman Chris Cornell in 2017, will be honored. With an array of talented musicians set to grace the stage, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony promises to be a memorable and star-studded event celebrating the rich history of rock music.
