Bob Daisley discusses being overlooked at Ozzy’s final concert and Rock Hall induction
Veteran musician Bob Daisley recently touched on his absence from Ozzy Osbourne’s final Birmingham concert in 2025 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2024. Daisley, aged 75, a bassist, and lyricist for Ozzy’s early solo career, shared his perspective with Scott Penfold of Loaded Radio concerning not being acknowledged at the final concert.
Daisley acknowledged that many fans and well-wishers felt his exclusion was a significant oversight, revealing, “Hey, you’re not alone in thinking that [I should have been invited] and saying that. So many people did. It was me not being there and me not being asked to be there, was really the elephant in the room, wasn’t it?” He pointed out his inability to attend the concert due to COVID-related travel restrictions but expressed his disappointment in not receiving any recognition despite his songwriting efforts.
Reflecting on the event, Daisley also shed light on his absence at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, with fans expressing frustration over his omission. He revealed that people were vocal on social media voicing disdain over him not being acknowledged for his considerable contributions as a songwriter to Ozzy’s early hits.
Daisley delved into his complex relationship with Ozzy, emphasizing the sequence of events that led to their professional falling out. Recounting his multiple stints working with Ozzy over the years, Daisley highlighted the highs and lows of their musical collaborations, including the abrupt end of their partnership after recording “Diary Of A Madman.”
Touching on the limited communication with the Osbournes, Daisley mentioned his last conversation with Sharon Osbourne during legal disputes in 2001 revolving around royalties and song credits. Despite past conflicts and misunderstandings, Daisley expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue, claiming he didn’t hold any personal grudges against the Osbournes and that he harbored no ill will towards them.
Summing up his thoughts on the situation, Daisley stated that while he wouldn’t mind reconciling, he found it hard to ignore the emotional weight attached to their shared experiences. Primarily motivated by his desire to address past issues and restore broken relationships, Daisley hinted at the possibility of rekindling dialogue and resolving unresolved issues with the Osbournes.
