A recently unveiled video has documented the devastating incident of a vehicle striking a nurse at a crosswalk near MUSC, prompting the victim’s attorney to seek out witnesses to shed light on the situation. The footage, filmed at the intersection of Ashley Avenue and Doughty Street outside MUSC’s Horseshoe, captures the nurse being hit by the vehicle and being tossed into the air.

Gedney Howe, the victim’s legal representative, expressed that the driver of the black sedan was driving recklessly leading up to the collision, resulting in life-altering consequences for the nurse. Howe highlighted the lack of clarity in the initial police report, mentioning the absence of formally identified witnesses and the fact that officers’ body cameras failed to record their conversation with the driver.

Faced with incomplete information, Howe took to the internet to share the video and urge individuals who witnessed the crash or interacted with the driver to step forward. He emphasized the importance of eyewitness accounts in uncovering the truth surrounding the incident, stating that numerous bystanders present during the collision could provide valuable insights.

While the victim is currently in stable condition, she continues to grapple with extensive injuries and considerable pain. Howe disclosed that a formal lawsuit has not been initiated in response to the incident as of yet. Charleston Police acknowledged that the driver remained on-site and cooperated with authorities, but they were issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian within a crosswalk.

The release of the video has brought renewed attention to the case, with hopes high that witnesses crucial to illuminating the circumstances of the collision will come forward. Howe’s plea for information underscores the significance of community involvement in seeking justice and accountability for those affected by such tragic events. Despite the challenges faced by the victim in her recovery, the search for answers and closure remains ongoing, with the cooperation of eyewitnesses seen as critical to achieving a comprehensive understanding of the incident.
