Producer says The Doors’ Playing for Change video demonstrates band members are still synchronized

The Doors’ John Densmore and Robby Krieger have joined forces with Playing for Change, a multimedia project that aims to bring the world together through music. As the project expanded to include more artists from around the globe, the management of The Doors suggested incorporating Jim’s original vocals. In a stroke of mystical serendipity, the vocals seamlessly synced with the music, highlighting the enduring connection between Jim, Robby, and John. This seamless integration led Sebastian to believe that the collaboration was meant to be and received Jim’s approval.

The video for “Riders on the Storm” has garnered over 2 million views and has raised significant funds for the Playing for Change Foundation’s music program dedicated to indigenous artists in South Dakota. The choice of this particular track was influenced by John’s advocacy for indigenous arts and rights, as well as Sebastian’s personal connection to Mohawk heritage through his late father, legendary musician Robbie Robertson.

Reflecting on the success of the video, Sebastian emphasized the significance of the song to many people and expressed that they approached the project with great reverence. As the video resonated with audiences worldwide, another Playing for Change video is in the works, teasing a setting “on a dark desert highway” for the next musical collaboration.
