New Sekiro Anime Video Reveals Theatrical Release, Cast, and Theme Song

The anime adaptation of FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice game, titled Sekiro: No Defeat, recently unveiled exciting details in a promotional video. The anime is set to premiere in theaters across Japan in 2026 and features the original Japanese game cast reprising their roles. The theme song, “Blu,” composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, adds an extra layer of allure to the upcoming anime.

The cast includes prominent voice actors such as Daisuke Namikawa as Sekiro, Miyuki Satōt as Kuro, Kenjirō Tsuda as Genichiro Ashina, Jin Urayama as Sculptor, Shizuka Itô as Emma, Akimitsu Takase as Hanbei, Takaya Hashi as Owl, and Tetsuo Kanao as Isshin Ashina. Crunchyroll will exclusively stream the anime worldwide in 2026, with the exception of Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus.

Kenichi Kutsuna is at the helm directing the anime at Qzil.la, while the talented Takuya Satou serves as the screenwriter. The renowned character designer Takahiro Kishida, known for Durarara!!, creates the anime’s unique character designs. Shūta Hasunuma takes charge of composing the captivating music that enhances the overall viewing experience.

In an official statement issued by the staff on August 22, it was confirmed that Sekiro: No Defeat is a completely hand-drawn 2D animation project. The teams responsible for the anime, including Qzil.la, ARCH, and Kadokawa, are dedicated to maintaining the artistry and precision that defined the original game. Notably, no AI technology is being utilized in the creation or production of this anime, ensuring a return to traditional animation methods.

Publisher Activision describes Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice as a third-person action-adventure game with RPG elements. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game plunges players into a narrative where they embody a brave warrior on a mission to rescue his master and seek vengeance against his adversaries. The game’s setting in the re-imagined world of late 1500s Sengoku Japan provides a backdrop of relentless conflict and challenge.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice offers players the chance to face formidable foes, utilize a range of deadly prosthetic tools, and unleash powerful ninja abilities. The game’s seamless blend of stealth, vertical exploration, and intense combat sequences ensures an immersive and exhilarating gameplay experience. With the success of its launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in March 2019, selling over 2 million copies worldwide in less than 10 days, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice solidified its position as a beloved title among gamers.
