CAGE FIGHT Releases New Single “Pick Your Fighter” Featuring 8-Bit Violence
Cage Fight has delivered an epic knockout punch with their latest offering, “Pick Your Fighter,” on which Julien Truchan of Benighted lends his ferocious vocals. The track explodes with energy, drawing inspiration from the animated video for “Et C’est Parti,” utilizing a boxing ring as a metaphor for the underlying message. Setting the stage for this sonic onslaught, the “Pick Your Fighter” video adopts the visuals and aesthetic of an 8-bit combat video game.
Vocalist Rachel Aspe delves into the motivation behind the new single, explaining, “We set out to create an anthemic, sing-along party track that embodies themes of resilience and fighting spirit, resulting in ‘Pick Your Fighter.’ I also sought to pay homage to a French artist who had a significant impact on my teenage years. My dad suggested Nâdiya, a prominent R&B vocalist in France. Both musically and lyrically, ‘Pick Your Fighter’ tips its hat to Nâdiya’s hit ‘Et C’est Parti,’ a motivational party anthem. To top it off, we enlisted the commanding vocal talents of Julien Truchan from Benighted. Brace yourself for some intense pig squeals – there’s a lot of them!”
Cage Fight collaborated with the Enemy of Boredom Academy, an organization that fosters neurodivergent youth in developing media skills. Nick Plews, the band’s drummer and a supporter of EOB Academy, struck gold with the idea to involve EOB’s Video Game Design students in a groundbreaking project. The students, currently pursuing Level 3 credentials, were presented with a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience that will fortify their portfolios and open doors to exciting prospects down the line.
Reflecting on the inception of the project, Nick enthused, “That lightbulb moment hit me in the back of the van after a gig – we were buzzing with excitement. I couldn’t wait to get back and rally the troops to create something spectacular! This is an incredibly special moment for me, and I couldn’t be prouder of the students’ achievements.”
In conclusion, Cage Fight’s “Pick Your Fighter” isn’t just a musical experience; it’s a meaningful collaboration that uplifts and empowers aspiring media professionals. It’s an embodiment of solidarity and creativity, a testament to the band’s enduring commitment to inspiring and supporting emerging talent in the industry. When raw talent and visionary educators join forces, the results are bound to be nothing short of extraordinary.
