Rock artist and actor Kurt Deimer recently discussed his upcoming album “A Grog is Born,” scheduled to be released on May 8th through Bald Man Records.
The selection process for the album involved a significant departure from his previous work, “And So It Begins.” Working closely with producer Chris Lord-Alge, they revisited a collection of powerful songs that Deimer had been developing over time. These songs needed a fresh perspective now that his vocal strength had improved through training under Chris and a vocal coach. By incorporating new vocal ranges, they identified which tunes would best showcase Deimer’s growth and chose to rework them for this new album. One of the tracks included is “Scared To Death,” a song he penned for an upcoming movie bearing the same name, set to debut on May 5th.
Another highlight from the album is the track “In Deep,” featuring Josh Todd from Buckcherry, which previously enjoyed a five-month run on the Top 40 Active Rock Mediabase chart. A collaboration with Geoff Tate on “Silent Lucidity” aims to raise awareness about suicide globally. These carefully curated songs represent Deimer’s dedication to sharing his music with the world on this sophomore album.
When asked about his favorite song on the album, Deimer found it difficult to choose just one as he holds all the tracks close to his heart. However, “Pringles,” a unique song he penned on April 28, 2020, stands out for its unconventional nature, promising a surprise for listeners.
The underlying inspiration behind Deimer’s music and songwriting stems from his deep-seated care for humanity. He emphasizes spreading peace, love, and kindness, intending to counteract the abundance of negativity present in society today. By crafting lyrics that reflect his values, he hopes to generate a positive impact on his listeners and reinforce the importance of empathy and understanding in the world.
Navigating the challenges of the digital age as an artist, Deimer acknowledges the difficulties of monetizing streaming services. In light of these obstacles, he emphasizes the significance of delivering an exceptional live experience for fans and maintaining a strong, positive online presence through social media.
Looking ahead, Deimer shares his excitement for the upcoming release of his film “Scared To Death” on May 5th and the launch of his new album “A Grog Is Born” on May 8th. He plans to embark on a tour, showcasing his evolved musical style and artistic journey. Additionally, he anticipates the release of two other films, a horror movie titled “Hellbilly Hollow” and a drama addressing fentanyl addiction named “Relapse,” which aims to shed light on an urgent issue affecting many lives.
For aspiring artists, Deimer offers advice based on personal experiences, stressing the importance of perseverance and hard work in achieving success. He urges young musicians to remain focused on their goals despite inevitable hurdles along the way.
Reflecting on his personal growth, Deimer credits his family’s influence for shaping his values and principles. Their unwavering support instilled in him a commitment to art, faith, kindness, and perseverance through life’s challenges. Drawing from these guiding principles, he aims to spread positivity and make a meaningful impact through his music and films, embodying the belief that kindness and hard work yield lasting rewards in life.
