Featured this week: Ruston Way, a duo blending alt-rock and pop from the Seattle-Tacoma area
discovering my own favorites, and playing them on my instruments. I probably wouldn’t be doing music if I didn’t hear so much of it growing up.If we want to hear more of your work, where should we look? What about upcoming shows?Follow us on Instagram @rustonwayband to keep up. Our next show is on May 23 at Atomic Genius Records (our belated album release celebration). Era by Ruston Way is on all streaming platforms if you want to listen. And May 29 at Slice of Life Pizzeria. What is next for you? Anything you’re working on right now that you’re really excited about? Our new album, Era, was released on April 11, so we’re hoping to reach the people who’ll love this music as much as we do! Would love to play more shows and keep working to make it an even more positive, fun experience for everyone. Also, I’ve organized a local music festival called Rainier on the Rise. I feel like there aren’t many festival opportunities for smaller artists. So the focus is on showcasing local emerging artists. This is the third year, and we have had over 100 artists interested this year. I wish we could have them all perform! I encourage more people to organize local festivals. Artists truly appreciate it!Lastly, how do you take your coffee? We ask everyone!I take my coffee, and I give it to someone who wants it. I like coffee, but it doesn’t like me.About ‘Artist of the Week’: This city is packed with artists we love to feature weekly on Seattle Refined! If you have a local artist in mind that you would like to see featured, let us know at [email protected]. And if you’re wondering just what constitutes art, that’s the beauty of it; it’s up to you!
