MOTO SOLO reveals Daniel Avery remix of “Wait and Wait” with new video

MOTO SOLO is creating excitement in the music scene with their evolving remix project for the track “Wait and Wait.” The latest release on May 13 is a remix by Daniel Avery, joining a series that also features a version by Matthew Dear. The release of the Avery remix was closely followed by the official music video for the track on May 15, highlighting the momentum behind the release campaign for MOTO SOLO’s upcoming debut LP.

The remix series showcases an impressive lineup of collaborators. Daniel Avery, a renowned UK producer and composer, brings a dense, psychedelic sound to “Wait and Wait” by layering distorted synth textures over a driving rhythm, drawing from his experience with artists like The Cure and New Order to infuse a hallucinatory vibe into the track.

Avery shared his thoughts on the remix process, explaining, “This is one of those remixes that unfolded in front of me. I love how many hooks are buried in Bobby’s original, so I shone a light on a few and hammered them into a psychedelic haze. It’s been in my head ever since.”

The original track features bassist Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age, who plays a significant role in shaping MOTO SOLO’s recent work and is producing their upcoming debut album. This connection ensures that the remix series remains true to the project’s core sonic identity.

The first remix in the series by Matthew Dear took a different approach, focusing on rhythm and negative space to create a unique reinterpretation of “Wait and Wait.” Dear emphasized the shared influences between his music and MOTO SOLO’s, stating that the creative process involved remixing their overlapping influences and musical experiences rather than just the song itself.

MOTO SOLO, led by Bobby Tamkin, brings together a blend of experimental and alternative music influences. Tamkin’s background includes work with Hovercraft and Xu Xu Fang, as well as recognition from publications like Rolling Stone and MOJO Magazine. Their recent material has seen collaborations with Grammy-winning engineers, adding high-end studio craftsmanship to their experimental sound.

With the release of the Daniel Avery remix completing the two-part series, the focus now shifts to MOTO SOLO’s highly anticipated debut LP. Produced by Michael Shuman, the album continues to explore the intersection of shoegaze, industrial electronics, and alternative rock experimentation that defines the project’s unique sound.
