MGK and Wiz Khalifa Revive Mixtape Era with ‘Blog Era Boyz’
More than ten years after playing a pivotal role in the rise of internet rap in the early 2010s, mgk and Wiz Khalifa are revisiting the past with their new joint mixtape, Blog Era Boyz.
The mixtape, released on May 22nd, consists of nine tracks that harken back to the carefree vibe that helped propel both artists to fame during the heyday of music blogs, DatPiff downloads, and burnt CD playlists. It’s a nostalgic trip for long-time fans, evoking a sense of time capsule-like nostalgia.
While the duo first collaborated in 2013 on the popular track “Mind of a Stoner,” 2026 marks a full-circle moment for them. The project gained momentum earlier this year with the drop of singles like “Girl Next Door” and “Everything Tatted,” which capture the laid-back, smoke-filled ambiance fans have come to love about the artists over the years.
The mixtape’s release coincides with Wiz Khalifa joining mgk on the Lost Americana Tour’s second leg, which commenced in California on May 15th and is set to hit cities like Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto, and Vancouver before concluding in Washington State on July 1st.
mgk has been exploring deeper into the realms of alternative rock while still maintaining a foothold in hip-hop. His 2025 album, Lost Americana, achieved top rankings on the Billboard Top Rock and Alternative Albums chart, with recent singles like “Fix Ur Face,” featuring Fred Durst, also making waves on the rock music scene.
Wiz Khalifa continues to be a prolific figure in the rap scene this year, having contributed to numerous projects alongside Blog Era Boyz. Other releases include Khaotic, the Moses the Black soundtrack, Girls Love Horses, and a collaborative double disc album with Curren$y.
