The potential return of the Sudoeste Festival to Portugal was mentioned by promoter Luís Montez, who remains optimistic about the event happening in 2027. Montez revealed that there are positive discussions ongoing regarding the festival’s return, but no final agreements have been made yet. He emphasized that it is a significant milestone as the festival will mark its 30th year in 2027, a remarkable achievement that holds a special place in his heart and the hearts of many attendees over the years.

The Sudoeste Festival, located in Zambujeira do Mar in the Odemira municipality, has faced challenges recently and has not been held for two consecutive years. Montez expressed his disappointment with the market’s competitiveness and the lack of incentives for companies to sponsor and invest in the festival. Given the substantial funding required, Música no Coração is actively seeking support and sponsors to ensure the festival’s return next year.

Established as an open-air music event at Herdade da Casa Branca, close to Zambujeira do Mar, the Sudoeste Festival was set to celebrate its milestone 30th anniversary in 2027. Although the event did not take place in 2025 and 2026, the festival’s legacy and impact on attendees and the music industry are undeniable. After announcing a hiatus in 2025 to “prepare a new chapter,” the organizers have been working diligently to bring the festival back.

In 2024, the festival underwent a rebranding, shifting away from its long-standing association with the sponsor, MEO. Despite this, the event featured renowned artists such as Da Weasel, Anitta, Martin Garrix, Bárbara Bandeira, and Richie Campbell in its 26th edition. While the absence of the Sudoeste Festival remains felt this year, Música no Coração is actively involved in producing other festivals and concerts, including the upcoming Sumol Summer Fest in Costa de Caparica, the Jardins do Marquês festival in Oeiras, the Caixa Alfama festival in Lisbon, and the Caixa Ribeira festival in Porto, with various other concerts scheduled at different venues.

With a dedicated team working tirelessly to secure support and sponsors, the potential return of the Sudoeste Festival in 2027 signifies a hopeful and exciting opportunity for fans and artists alike. The nostalgia and memories associated with the festival’s past editions continue to fuel the determination to make the 30th anniversary celebration a reality. As preparations and negotiations progress, the music industry and festival-goers eagerly await the official confirmation of the Sudoeste Festival’s return in 2027.
