At the Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, SEGA of America and RGG Studio unveiled exciting new details about their upcoming action-adventure game, Stranger Than Heaven, including the surprising inclusion of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur. During the event, RGG Studio Head Masayoshi Yokoyama officially announced that the game is set to be released on January 15, 2027.

In addition to the revelation about Tupac’s involvement, Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell Broadus were also present at the event, both set to portray characters in the game. Snoop Dogg is not only taking on a role in the game but is also collaborating on the official theme song alongside talented musicians Satoshi Fujihara, Ado, and Tori Kelly, who will all double as in-game characters. Furthermore, the game’s cast will feature actors such as Takashi Ukaji, Yasukaze Motomiya, Takaya Kuroda, and Kohei Tsuji.

The character that Tupac Shakur will portray in the game has been named Amaru, in a nod to his legacy and the permission granted by his estate, Amaru Entertainment, which allowed the use of Tupac’s likeness based on archived material. It is emphasized by RGG Studio that no artificial intelligence was utilized during the creation process, underscoring their commitment to honoring Tupac’s memory. This isn’t the first instance where technology has brought Tupac back to life – in 2012, a lifelike hologram of the rapper appeared during Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s performance at Coachella, a testament to Tupac’s enduring impact on music and culture.

Stranger Than Heaven promises an exhilarating gaming experience as hinted by the trailer previews showcased at the festival. The game unfolds over a fifty-year timeline and is described by SEGA as a “saga of men with nowhere to go and their desperate struggle to find a home.” Players will navigate through five cities and eras of modern Japan, utilizing both extreme violence for survival and musical talents to thrive as performers.

Without a doubt, the addition of Tupac Shakur to the roster of characters in Stranger Than Heaven adds a layer of excitement and authenticity to the game. Fans eagerly anticipate immersing themselves in this gritty crime thriller, exploring the intricate narrative and dynamic gameplay experience across different eras and cities in Japan. Stay tuned for the release of Stranger Than Heaven on January 15, 2027, and get ready to embark on an unforgettable gaming journey.
