Brandon Flowers set to release new solo album titled ‘THRASHER’
In an exciting reveal, Brandon Flowers, the frontman of The Killers, has announced his return with a new solo album titled ‘THRASHER’ after an 11-year hiatus since his last solo project. This time, Flowers took a departure from his Las Vegas roots and recorded the album in the vibrant music city of Nashville, TN. The album, slated for release on 21st August via Island Records, is his third solo endeavor, following his 2010 debut album ‘Flamingo’ and the subsequent 2015 release, ‘The Desired Effect.’
For ‘THRASHER,’ Flowers embraced a new sonic direction, steering towards the warmer tones of country and western music. The album was born out of collaborative efforts with acclaimed producers Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado, and an ensemble of iconic musicians including David Rawlings, Bruce Bouton on pedal steel guitar, and harmonica virtuoso Charlie McCoy. The ten-track record was crafted at the historic RCA Studio A, adding an element of tradition and authenticity to Flowers’ creative process.
In a reflective trailer accompanying the album announcement, Brandon shares his introspective musings, “Two things can be true at the same time. The fact that I love new wave and rock and roll has been well-documented, but a life is long enough to allow for more.” Flowers delves into his newfound connection with Country and Western music, which he refers to as his father’s music, emphasizing the depth and multilayered nature of his musical identity. The singer noted, “It [Country and Western music] has offered itself to me, and the stories I have to tell at the moment, with a breezy enthusiasm.”
The first glimpse of the album arrives in the form of ‘Plans,’ a track set to be unveiled on 26th June. The tracklist for ‘THRASHER’ has been revealed, featuring songs like ‘Does It Ever Cross Your Mind?’, ‘Miss America’, ‘An American Dream’, and more, showcasing Flowers’ venture into uncharted musical territories. The combination of Brandon’s introspective storytelling and the rich textures of country music sets the stage for an evocative and immersive listening experience.
