Exciting news alert for young musicians and singers in Laois, Offaly, and Northern Ireland! An amazing new song-writing project called Isle of Song is kicking off from March to October 2025. If you’re between 10 and 18 years old and have a passion for music and song-writing, this is your chance to shine!

Participants will have a blast at 2 residential music camps in Antrim and Laois. You’ll get to jam with a band, work together with other young talents to create awesome songs, all while getting expert guidance from experienced mentors. Plus, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to perform at Stendhal Festival in Limavady and at The Fort in Portlaoise.

But wait, there’s more! The Isle of Song project will close with showcase concerts in September and October 2025, where you’ll dazzle the crowd at The Nerve Centre in Derry and Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise.

Ready to rock and roll? Sounds like a dream, right? The best part – it’s totally free! All meals, accommodation, transport, and workshops will be provided at no cost. Just mark your calendars and make sure you can commit to all the project dates.

Hurry, application forms are now live on the Music Generation Laois and The Nerve Centre websites. Don’t wait too long, though, applications close at 5pm on Monday 20 January 2025. Remember, there are only 50 spots available, so not everyone will make the cut.

If you’re a young musician or singer itching to collaborate and create original music with other talented folks, this project is made for you! Rosa Flannery, the Music Development Officer at Music Generation Laois, sums it up perfectly, “Isle of Song is all about bringing together young musicians from all over Ireland, North and South, to unleash their musical creativity and make magic happen. Let’s make some awesome music together!”
