Tom Morello Added to Bluesfest 2025 Lineup
Bluesfest just announced another exciting addition to its lineup for 2025, the legendary Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. The festival, held in Byron Bay, has secured this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist to perform over the Easter long weekend, coinciding with news of Morello working on a new album. Alongside Morello, Indonesian blues-rock band Electric Cadillac has also been confirmed for the lineup.
Joining an already impressive roster of talent including Crowded House, Chaka Khan, TOTO, Hilltop Hoods, Missy Higgins, Vance Joy, Ocean Alley, Tones and I, Gary Clark Jr., Christopher Cross, and Rag’n’Bone Man, Morello and Electric Cadillac are set to deliver electrifying performances at the festival. With more than 90% of tickets already sold out, Bluesfest is on track to sell out completely in the coming weeks.
Initially anticipated as the final edition of Bluesfest, festival director Peter Noble hinted in an interview that this move was a strategic attempt to garner attention and support from the state government. “So what do we have to do? Do we have to say it’s the last Bluesfest to get people to focus on us?” he questioned. “All we’ve asked our state to do is to show us that they care about the most highly awarded event in the history of Australian music. Regardless, I will always find a way for Bluesfest to go forward – that is my job.”
Bluesfest’s announcement comes amidst a troubling period for the festival landscape in Australia, as major events like Splendour in the Grass and Groovin the Moo made the difficult decision to cancel their 2025 editions. However, there is some light at the end of the tunnel, as Chris O’Brien from Good Things Festival and head promoter at Destroy All Lines expressed confidence in their upcoming event. “I’ve never seen a more challenging festival environment in my life and have never seen so many festivals cancel in such a short space of time,” O’Brien stated. Emphasizing the complexities of festival programming, rising costs, and the challenges of securing artists, O’Brien remained optimistic about the future of Good Things Festival.
Amidst the uncertainty that shrouds the festival landscape in Australia, Bluesfest 2025 shines as a beacon of hope and resilience. With a stellar lineup, including the iconic Tom Morello and Electric Cadillac, the festival is poised to deliver unforgettable experiences for attendees.
