Crunchyroll has recently added two new anime titles to its catalog in India: the prequel to Touken Ranbu Kai and the compilation films for Bocchi the Rock! The prequel, titled Touken Ranbu Kai -Dо̄den Chikashi Haberau Monora-, was released on August 16 for a limited three-week run in theaters across Japan. On the other hand, the Bocchi the Rock! compilation films premiered in Japan on June 7 and August 9.

Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji is an anime adaptation of the Touken Ranbu Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji stage play. The series consists of eight episodes and debuted in April 2024 to the delight of fans. The anime was directed by Kazuya Ichikawa and animated by Domerica, with the original play’s director and playwright, Kenichi Suemitsu, returning to oversee and write the scripts. Mari Takada was in charge of character design, and Ryūnosuke Kasai composed the music for the series.

Touken Ranbu Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji is just one of 15 non-musical stage plays based on the popular Touken Ranbu Online game. The narrative revolves around Fudō Yukimitsu, a sword with historical significance and ties to legendary leader Oda Nobunaga. The game itself takes famous swords from Japanese history and reimagines them as handsome characters, a concept that has intrigued audiences since its launch in Japan in January 2015.

The Touken Ranbu franchise has had a significant impact on the world of anime, spawning various adaptations such as the Katsugeki: Touken Ranbu television series, an upcoming anime film, and the Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru spinoff series. Additionally, the franchise has inspired live-action films, stage musicals, stage plays, and manga.

Bocchi the Rock! is another captivating anime series that has garnered attention, with its compilation films receiving positive reception upon release. The first film, Bocchi the Rock! Re:, hit theaters in Japan on June 7, while the second film, Bocchi the Rock! Re:Re:, followed on August 9. The films performed well at the box office, proving to be a hit among fans.

The anime adaptation of Aki Hamaji’s manga follows the story of a high school girl named Hitori “Bocchi-chan” Gotō, who finds solace in playing her guitar. One day, she meets Nijika Ijichi, who invites her to join the band “Kessoku Band.” The series captures the heartfelt journey of Bocchi-chan as she navigates the world of music and friendship.

Fans can look forward to more exciting content from both the Touken Ranbu and Bocchi the Rock! series, as they continue to enthrall audiences with their tales of adventure, music, and camaraderie.
