Philadelphia-based noise rockish post-hardcore punks, Get Well, have recently released a new EP titled “Sowing Seeds in Fields of Bone” on May 2, 2025. The EP, comprising of four songs, was tracked at Cart Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. The band’s statement of support for “all liberatory struggles” sets the tone for an urgent and disillusioned record that refuses to normalize systemic cruelty.

The raw and direct lyrical delivery of the EP reflects the band’s desire to avoid abstracting the core issues. Vocalist Scott expresses the aim for the new songs to be straightforward, emphasizing the need to convey messages clearly without decorative language or false hope. The EP, coming in at under 11 minutes, captures a sense of moral fatigue and rage, tackling themes of brutality, despair, and resistance.

Each song on the EP delves into various societal issues. “Redress” addresses the contradictions of fascism and the necessity of resistance. The band members recount the creative process behind the song’s intense vocals and unique ending. “Meet and Greet” confronts the individuals responsible for the destruction of the world, showcasing rhythmic complexities and new stylistic elements. “Canaanized” delves into themes of genocide and protest, highlighting the band’s evolution in songwriting over nearly a decade. “Captive Bolt” explores the difficulty of maintaining hope in the face of societal injustices and the need for radical action against oppressive systems.

The EP’s artwork and layout, created by Aaron D.C. Edge, mirror the urgency and authenticity of the music, encapsulating the band’s refusal to conform to societal norms. Through its direct, unornamented approach, “Sowing Seeds in Fields of Bone” poses a challenge to listeners to confront uncomfortable truths and take a stand against systemic injustices.

Despite its brief duration, the EP effectively builds and dismantles emotional structures, leaving a lasting impact on its audience. The band’s dedication to creating music that challenges the status quo and provokes critical thought is evident in the raw energy and unapologetic messaging of each track.

As Get Well continues to push the boundaries of their sound and lyrical content, “Sowing Seeds in Fields of Bone” serves as a potent reminder of the power of music to inspire change and resistance in the face of adversity. With its uncompromising stance against injustice and cruelty, this EP stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of protest and solidarity in the modern music landscape.
