Pavlov’s Dog, the iconic rock band, is set to embark on their first-ever tour of Australia to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Founded by David Surkamp in St. Louis, Missouri in 1972, Pavlov’s Dog made their mark with their debut album ‘Pampered Menial’ in 1975, which gained success in Australia, peaking at number 23 and receiving significant airplay on 2JJ in Sydney, particularly for the captivating track ‘Julia’.

The band’s second album, ‘At The Sound of the Bell’, released in 1976, featured notable guest appearances from acclaimed musicians such as Bill Bruford of Yes, Andy Mackay of Roxy Music, and Grammy Award winner Michael Brecker. Despite these accomplishments, Pavlov’s Dog disbanded in 1977 due to the record company’s decision not to release their third album, citing lackluster sales of the previous records. However, in 2007, the shelved third album from 1977 was finally unveiled as Pavlov’s Dog’s fourth album, ‘Has Anyone Here Seen Sigfried?’

In 1990, Pavlov’s Dog regrouped and produced what would become their third album, ‘Lost In America’. Over the years, the band has released three additional albums since 2010, including ‘Echo & Boo’ (2010), ‘The Pekin Tapes’ (2014), and ‘Prodigal Dreamer’ (2018), showcasing their enduring creativity and dedication to their craft. Today, at 73 years old, David Surkamp stands as the sole original member of Pavlov’s Dog, with his wife Sara also joining the lineup.
