Girish and The Chronicles go viral with ‘America’s Got Talent’ performance
Girish and the Chronicles, a hard rock/heavy metal band based in Bengaluru, recently experienced viral fame due to their frontman Girish Pradhan’s impressive vocal range. Their journey to being featured on the TV talent show America’s Got Talent (AGT) began with a video of Girish exercising his vocal cords before a performance at the Mahindra Independence Rock festival in Mumbai in November 2023. This video caught the attention of an AGT producer, leading to their participation in the 20th season of the show.
The band, comprising Girish Pradhan, Suraz Sun, Yogesh Pradhan, and Nagen Nags, delivered a powerful rendition of Adele’s “Set Fire To The Rain” during their AGT audition in Pasadena. Their unique interpretation of the song impressed all four judges, including Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Mel B, who all gave the band a standing ovation. This successful audition marked Girish and The Chronicles’ American debut and propelled them to the next round of the competition.
Before their full performance aired on AGT, the band teased their appearance through social media posts and the season 20 trailer, building excitement among fans. Vocalist Girish Pradhan emphasized the band’s desire to reach a broader audience and share their music with new listeners in the US. Inspired by glam metal band Steel Panther’s performance on AGT, Girish and the band saw an opportunity to showcase rock music on a mainstream platform while staying true to their roots.
Despite having a catalogue of original songs, Girish and The Chronicles opted to perform a cover on AGT to highlight their musical versatility. Their rendition of “Set Fire To The Rain” has already garnered over a million views on YouTube, further validating the band’s years of hard work and dedication to their craft. Moving forward in the competition, Pradhan expressed the band’s commitment to staying authentic and prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead.
Currently on an India tour and gearing up for a performance in Portugal, Girish and The Chronicles remain focused on their music and dedicated to their fans. Pradhan’s reflections on their journey from the Indian rock scene to the international stage showcase the band’s perseverance and passion for their craft. As they continue to make waves in the music industry, Girish and The Chronicles stand poised to leave a lasting impact on the global rock community.
