TRUSS releases new hard rock album
Cleveland’s TRUSS is making a strong comeback with their latest album, Fluorescence, and have enlisted veteran publicist Mike Cubillos to promote it. Lead singer Hannah Crandall revealed that the band’s decision to work with Cubillos came after receiving recommendations from friends. They have learned valuable lessons since their first record, Reset My Head, and are now more established in the local music scene. TRUSS’s upcoming release show will take place on June 21st at the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights, where they will be supported by The Rosies and CHERRY!.
Formed in 2018 during their time at Ohio State University, TRUSS initially gained traction by playing gigs around the region. The band took a significant step forward in 2019 when they released “Mayhem,” a single recorded with the help of a friend from the university. Relocating to Cleveland after graduating, TRUSS’s live performances garnered attention, leading them to open for well-known acts like Sponge, Puddle of Mudd, Alice Cooper’s guitarist Nita Strauss, and Lez Zeppelin.
Amidst these milestones, TRUSS underwent a change, scaling down to a three-piece lineup with an additional bass player for live performances. The band’s renewed lineup has influenced their sound, infusing more production elements and effects into their music. Their new album presents a diverse range of tracks that appeal to a wide audience, with influences spanning from 2000’s Paramore to ’90s grunge and nu-metal.
Reflecting on the themes explored in Fluorescence, Crandall mentioned that the band’s challenging experiences in 2024 shaped the album’s narrative. Each song delves into different topics, ranging from relationships to grief and self-discovery. By drawing from personal struggles and observations, TRUSS has crafted an album that resonates with listeners on a deeper level.
