The Trews reveal latest album called ‘The Bloody Light’

The Trews, a rootsy rock band from Antigonish, NS, have unveiled details about their upcoming eighth studio album, “The Bloody Light,” set for release on October 24 through Known Accomplice / Cadence Music Group. This album, following their 2021 release “Wanderer,” was a collaborative effort with Brett and Jay Emmons of the Glorious Sons, known for their work together over the years.

John-Angus MacDonald of the Trews shared his excitement about working with the Emmons brothers, mentioning their longstanding friendship and previous collaborations. The decision to have Brett and Jay produce the album came as an intriguing experiment, given their in-depth knowledge of the band both behind the scenes and on stage, providing a unique perspective to the project.

Entering the studio with cautious optimism in the summer of 2023, the band began recording the lead single “The Bloody Light,” quickly recognizing the Emmons brothers’ dedication and talent. Their valuable input pushed the band to deliver some of their best performances, capturing the essence of their music in a remarkable manner.

The freshly released music video for “Don’t Get Lost in the Dark” offers a taste of what to expect from the upcoming album. Alongside the single, fans can look forward to a dynamic tracklist that includes songs like “Carolina,” “Ship of Fools,” “Love or Pain,” and “Endless Weekend,” among others. “The Bloody Light” promises to showcase the band’s versatility and growth as musicians.

In addition to the album release, the Trews have also announced an extensive 2025 tour schedule, with performances lined up in various cities across Canada. From festivals like Guitars and Gasoline Festival and Parkland Summerfest to standalone shows in venues like Princess Auto Stadium and Buffalo AKG Art Museum, the band is set to bring their infectious energy and music to fans nationwide.

The tour culminates with a series of performances at prominent venues like Jackson Triggs Amphitheatre and Western Financial Place, offering audiences a chance to experience the band’s electrifying live performances firsthand. With their upcoming album and tour dates, the Trews are gearing up to captivate audiences with their signature sound and passion for music.
