No Cigar – 13th Floor Releases New Song of the Day
NO CIGAR, a local indie-rock band, has recently unveiled a more somber and introspective side with the release of their latest single, Clean. This new song gives a glimpse of what to expect from their upcoming third album, UNDER THE SURFACE, which is set to drop on Wednesday, July 30, followed by a three-date tour to celebrate.
Clean showcases NO CIGAR at their core, embodying a blend of relaxed and energetic vibes with catchy and gritty undertones. The lead vocal gracefully navigates through verses, transitioning seamlessly into rich choruses filled with delicate harmonies and ethereal backing vocals. Lyrically, Clean explores the balance between the temptation of hedonism and the essence of self-control, capturing the constant push and pull between desires and needs, as described by Arthur Gillies from NO CIGAR.
This single serves as a preview of the forthcoming album, UNDER THE SURFACE, which will also feature tracks like ‘Best Behaviour’, ‘Problem’, and ‘Chantilly’. For those eagerly awaiting NO CIGAR’s return to New Zealand after a successful run in Europe, the band will embark on an album release tour later this year, with dates in Wellington, Christchurch, and Auckland, presented by Eccles Entertainment.
The tour will follow a series of live dates in Australia from October 23 to November 1 before starting in Wellington at Meow Nui on Friday, November 7, then moving to Christchurch at Ngaio Marsh Theatre on Saturday, November 8, and concluding in Auckland at the Powerstation on Friday, November 14. The UNDER THE SURFACE – ALBUM RELEASE TOUR 2025 will be an opportunity for fans to experience NO CIGAR’s music live and in person.
NO CIGAR’s upcoming third record will mark another milestone for the band, following the success of their previous studio albums, THE GREAT ESCAPE in 2023 and BIENVENIDO in 2022, which garnered significant acclaim in Australasia, the UK, Europe, and the US. THE GREAT ESCAPE even remained in the top 20 charts in New Zealand for 73 weeks after its launch, with the track ‘Concubine’ ranking as the 10th best rock song on The Rock FM’s annual countdown.
