Firefall, a band that achieved considerable success in the 1970s with hits like “Just Remember I Love You” and “You Are The Woman,” emerged from Boulder, Colorado around 1974, composed of musicians from other renowned groups such as the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Byrds. Despite being labeled as a soft rock band, Firefall has had a profound influence on other artists and has been reciprocally influenced by their peers.
In 2023, the band decided to pay homage to their musical companions by releasing an album of cover tunes titled “Friends & Family.” This album was a homage to the friends and family members who shaped Firefall’s journey up to that point. Recently, in May of the current year, Firefall, in collaboration with Sunset Blvd. Records, released a follow-up album called “Friends & Family 2.”
Guitarist Jock Bartley shared insights into the recording process and highlighted some of the standout tracks from “Friends & Family 2.” The band embarked on the project with immense enthusiasm, aiming to faithfully recreate songs from their contemporaries while infusing their unique touch into each track. Bartley expressed the joy and fulfillment they experienced while working on this album, reimagining timeless classics while preserving their original essence.

The band’s version of Neil Young’s “Mr. Soul” allowed Bartley to pay homage to Young’s distinctive guitar style while adding his flair to the solo, creating a dynamic and nostalgic rendition of the original.
The album also features a reinterpretation of Eddie Money’s “Shakin’,” showcasing Firefall’s versatility and passion for rock music.
