“Rogers Stadium in Toronto Prepares for Coldplay Concert with Crowd Control Changes”
Rogers Stadium is gearing up to host thousands of Coldplay fans as the British rock band kicks off the first of four shows tonight. The organizers are working on enhancing crowd control measures at Toronto’s newest outdoor music venue following some issues faced during the venue’s inaugural concert last Sunday. Attendees voiced concerns about extensive delays in exiting the stadium, with some waiting for up to two hours due to the inadequacy of the site and transit services in handling the large crowds.
One of the main grievances highlighted by concertgoers was the limited access to water at the stadium. Many reported hour-long lineups at bottle filling stations that were dispensing warm water in some instances. Live Nation Canada, the organization behind the operation of the stadium near Downsview Park, has pledged to address these concerns by implementing more signage, lighting, staff, and water stations to enhance the overall fan experience.
To ease congestion at the Downsview Park station, which also caters to GO train passengers, the stadium’s exit routes will be reconfigured to disperse crowds towards all three nearby subway stations. The Toronto Transit Commission has committed to deploying additional staff at its Downsview Park and Wilson stations on concert nights, while Metrolinx has stated that it will be closely monitoring GO train ridership levels during events at the stadium.
Ticketmaster has informed Coldplay ticket holders about potential limited cellular reception at the gates of Rogers Stadium due to its large-capacity nature. City councillor James Pasternak, representing the Downsview Park area, shared that discussions with Live Nation and Northcrest Developments, the property owners, were candid and emphasized the need for improvements at the venue following the initial performance.
With a lineup of concerts scheduled throughout the summer season, stakeholders involved have been urged to address the identified concerns promptly. This proactive approach aims to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for attendees at upcoming events held at Rogers Stadium.
