Acadian Culture to be Celebrated from August 4 to 17

The 14th edition of the Acadie Rock Festival will be taking place from August 4 to 17, celebrating all things Francophone. Among the festivities, there will be a special culinary tribute honoring poet Gérald Leblanc and his legacy. Participating restaurants in southeastern New Brunswick will be serving unique meals as part of Menu de Backyard, themed “Le monde a bien changé”, inspired by the famous song by 1755, for which Leblanc wrote the lyrics.

A total of fourteen establishments will be participating in the festival, offering 17 original menu items for attendees to enjoy. Festival Coordinator Marie Julie Bourque emphasized that the event is a grand celebration of Acadian culture, embracing its vibrancy and joyfulness. Quinze Août, a significant cultural event, will be commemorated once again at Riverfront Park, featuring performances by Tcheu Misère, Menoncle Jason, Caroline Savoie, and the popular band Beauxmont.

The festivities will kick off with the annual Tintamarre just before 6 pm at Moncton City Hall, followed by a procession to Riverfront Park where the celebrations will continue. Bourque highlighted the importance of the Acadia Rock Festival in showcasing the resilience and vibrancy of Acadian culture. She emphasized that while the culture is thriving, it still faces risks and challenges. The festival serves as a testament to the enduring presence of Acadian heritage and the community’s commitment to preserving its traditions.
