The Depot introduces new music venue called The Barrelhouse
The recently unveiled music venue, The Barrelhouse, situated at The Switch Yard, is a fresh addition tucked away behind the iconic Depot building on East 4th Street in Reno, Nevada. Representing a brand new intimate space, The Barrelhouse stands as the focal point of the Switch Yard campus, providing an immersive setting for thoughtfully curated live events. During a recent appearance on Morning Break, Alex Deaser, an event coordinator at The Depot, and Peter Barnato, the lead vocalist of Moondog Matinee, shared insights on the upcoming inaugural performance set to take place this weekend.
The premiere show will showcase a headline act by the local sensation Moondog Matinee, renowned for their soulful rock tunes and magnetic stage presence that have consistently drawn sold-out crowds across the state. The evening’s entertainment will kick off with a riveting performance by post-modern alt-rockers Rigorous Proof, followed by an afterparty DJ set by Ivan the Terrible. The venue, adorned with rows of oak barrels and exuding a rich historic charm, will offer attendees the opportunity to enjoy a selection of craft beers from The Depot, Parlay 6 Brewing, and Battle Born Beer, as well as a variety of spirits and cocktails crafted from The Depot’s in-house distilled spirits.
Doors open at 7 p.m., with the music slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are currently available for purchase through Eventbrite. Upon showing proof of ticket purchase, guests can avail of a 5% discount on food at The Depot on the day and night of the performance. It is important to note that all ticket holders must be at least 21 years of age to attend.
This inaugural concert scheduled for July 25th heralds the commencement of the Barrelhouse Sessions, a series of specially curated events set to bring a mix of local favorites and traveling artists to this unique and unmatched performance space.
