Wisbech Town Council Leader pleased with ‘highly successful’ Rock Festival
The Wisbech Town Council recently held a meeting where the leader expressed immense satisfaction with the outcome of the Wisbech Rock Festival. The council leader, Cllr Samantha Hoy, described this year’s festival, which took place on August 3, as an overwhelming success. She extended her gratitude to all individuals involved in the planning and execution of the event, especially those who dedicated their time from the early hours of the morning until its conclusion, as well as the individuals who contributed to setting up the venue the day prior.
Cllr Hoy emphasized that the Wisbech Rock Festival catered to a diverse audience, offering something for everyone in attendance. She was delighted to witness numerous individuals enjoying themselves throughout the festivities. Looking ahead, Cllr Hoy announced the upcoming Wisbech Christmas light switch-on scheduled for November 30, along with a Remembrance service on November 9.
The council’s resource committee is set to deliberate on the event calendar for the year 2026 before the year draws to a close. Cllr Hoy expressed optimism that the events planned for the following year would be as remarkable and captivating as the current year’s festivities. Additionally, she expressed satisfaction in the council’s ability to support the town’s commemoration of the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
Amidst the council’s numerous responsibilities, including overseeing its buildings, operations, and management, they have taken on additional tasks such as the management of the new pavilion in Wisbech Park and the St Raphael Centre.
