Lady Gaga releases new single while making guest appearance on Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’
Lady Gaga has made an appearance in Netflix’s “Wednesday.” Coinciding with her appearance in the Addams Family remake show, Gaga has released a new single titled “the Dead Dance,” along with a music video directed by Tim Burton. The music video was released on various streaming platforms on Wednesday morning in classic Gaga style to accompany her role in the show’s second season.
This surprise single release comes just a few months after Gaga’s seventh studio album, “Mayhem,” which dropped in March. The music video for “the Dead Dance” exudes an old-school horror movie vibe, mainly shot in black and white. It features Lady Gaga alongside eerie dolls, busting out some jerking dance moves reminiscent of a freshly risen zombie. Despite the catchiness of the song, it’s unlikely that Gaga’s dance moves will overshadow the iconic moves of the character Wednesday in the show.
Gaga’s “Mayhem” album, which features mainly synth-pop influences, showcases a blend of genres that her fans have grown to love. Listeners of the album may find a pleasant surprise when they open the album on Spotify and detect a new track. The song “the Dead Dance” has been added to the album in a digital reissue, making it the third single off the album.
In “Wednesday,” the show revolves around the lead character Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega, as she navigates mysterious occurrences and uncovers secrets at Nevermore Academy. Lady Gaga’s character, Rosaline Rotwood, portrays the ghost of a former teacher at the school. Gaga’s venture into acting isn’t new, having played major roles in films like “A Star Is Born” and “Joker: Folie à Deux.”
