Australian artist Vance Joy has just released his latest single ‘Divine Feelings’, the first half of his upcoming double A-side project Divine Feelings/Fascination in the Dark, with the second half slated for release in October. This marks Vance Joy’s first significant solo release since his 2022 album In Our Own Sweet Time, following collaborations with Noah Cyrus (‘Everybody Needs Somebody’, 2023) and Melbourne electronic group Shouse (‘Wherever You Are’, 2025).

The track ‘Divine Feelings’ is a tribute to the exhilaration of meeting someone who changes your life. Accompanying the song is a visually captivating music video directed by W.A.M. Bleakley, filmed in Mount Isa and Cloncurry in regional Queensland. The video, inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, features Erana James (from ‘The Wilds’) and Tom Wilson (from ‘Heartbreak High’) as lovers on the run in the Australian outback.

Bleakley shared insights into the video shoot, saying, “We shot the videos in Mount Isa and Cloncurry – not only do they have a desert/Americana vibe, they also offered us consistent weather with a summer feel. The locals embraced us, and working with Erana and Tom made it easy. They nailed the performances.”

‘Divine Feelings’ holds special significance for Vance Joy as it was inspired by a life-changing encounter in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter in 2019, where he met the woman who would later become his wife and the mother of his first child. Both ‘Divine Feelings’ and its counterpart track ‘Fascination in the Dark’ encapsulate that profound moment of connection and were created in collaboration with Dave Bassett while in Barcelona.

While currently on tour in North America, Vance Joy has been treating live audiences to previews of ‘Divine Feelings’ before its official release. He is set to return to Australia for a performance at the Harvest Rock Festival in Adelaide on 25 October.

Born as James Gabriel Keogh in Melbourne in 1987, Vance Joy shot to fame in 2013 with his breakthrough single ‘Riptide’. The song quickly became one of the most streamed Australian tracks of all time, achieving multi-platinum status globally and topping Triple J’s Hottest 100. His debut album ‘Dream Your Life Away’ in 2014 spawned hits like ‘Mess Is Mine’ and ‘Georgia’.

Vance Joy followed up with his second album ‘Nation of Two’ in 2018, which debuted at number one in Australia and Canada, and reached the Top 10 in the US. This further solidified his position as one of Australia’s most successful contemporary singer-songwriters. The release of his third album ‘In Our Own Sweet Time’ in 2022, recorded during the pandemic, explored themes of distance, love, and connection.

Over the course of his career, Vance Joy has accumulated more than 10 billion streams, sold out headline tours across five continents, and shared the stage with global icons like Taylor Swift on her 1989 World Tour. His unique blend of intimate yet anthemic songwriting continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
