Billie Eilish has once again broken records on Spotify with her popular track “Birds of a Feather,” which has now amassed over 3 billion streams. This achievement marks the second song of hers to reach this milestone and is also recognized as the fastest track to do so, accomplishing the feat in a remarkable 422 days. Notably, the previous record-holder for this achievement was Harry Styles’ hit song “As It Was.”

Released on July 2, 2024, “Birds of a Feather” served as the second single from Billie Eilish’s third studio album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft.” Co-written with her brother and long-time collaborator, Finneas, the track was crafted in his home studio in Los Angeles. Following its release, the single quickly gained worldwide acclaim, claiming the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart and reaching No. 1 in eight different countries. It also secured spots in the top 5 in several other countries, including the United States and United Kingdom. The song’s commercial success was further solidified by its multi-platinum status worldwide and recognition as one of the best-selling tracks of 2024 according to IFPI.

The impact of “Birds of a Feather” extended beyond its commercial performance to the awards circuit, where it received prestigious nominations including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards held in 2025. The song’s accompanying music video played a crucial role in its ascent, propelling it to a new peak of No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

An interesting achievement of “Birds of a Feather” was becoming the first song by a female artist to dominate Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for a minimum of 30 weeks. Additionally, it clinched a record on Pop Airplay, maintaining a presence on the chart for an impressive 50 weeks, surpassing the longevity of any solo song by a female artist in history.
