Icecream Hands rose to fame in the nineties and early 2000s with their lively style of melodious power pop, and we are thrilled to provide you with a preview of their new content in the form of the track ‘Back on the Road.’ Having reemerged in 2020 after a 13-year break, the band has also revealed the upcoming release of a new album titled ‘Giant Fox Pineapple Tree’ on November 7, 2025.

‘Back On The Road’ shimmers with a poignant blend of guitars and unforgettable melodies, evoking nostalgia and boasting radiant harmonies. Drawing inspiration from acts like Teenage Fanclub with a unique Antipodean twist, the song features a luminous chorus that adds a celestial touch. The result blends the dusty Australian outback with an emotional lens filled with vivid memories.

Songwriter Douglas Lee Robertson shared his thoughts on the song’s creation process:
[Derek G] Smiley and I, both fathers to three daughters of similar ages, drew inspiration for the theme. The song truly blossomed in the studio, reaching a wonderful culmination… We later added the vocal and guitar overlays in my studio. Greg J. Walker beautifully mixed the final product!

Charles Jenkins, another band member, echoed his enthusiasm:
From the moment I heard the opening notes, I was captivated by its sound, its narrative, and the performances. The song conveys both strength and vulnerability, leading up to a magnificent chorus and transitioning seamlessly between sections.

The music video, directed by Derek G. Smiley, captures the vivid Antipodean sunlight contrasted with nighttime downpours and solitary moments, taking viewers on a musician’s journey filled with both joy and solitude.

‘Back On The Road’ is a vibrant burst of dynamic pop. The track is set to be officially released tomorrow and will be available for download on all major platforms.
