A beloved rock band from the 1960s is back on the music scene after a 50-year absence. The Grimm, a rock group from Utah formed in 1961, made a remarkable return to the industry after the discovery of original studio recordings of their songs in an attic. The actual Hollywood-like scenario of finding these recordings kickstarted a resurgence of interest in the band that led to the re-release of their hit singles “The Darkness and the Night” and “1400 Miles” in 2018.

The response to the re-release was overwhelming, with fans both old and new celebrating the band’s iconic music and original merchandise from the 1960s. Frontman and founder Greg Ericksen, now 76, expressed his surprise at the outpouring of support, which inspired the band to reunite and create new music. The Grimm was originally formed by Ericksen when he was just 12 years old, starting as a folk group named the Four/Fifths before transitioning to a rock sound during the peak of Beatlemania.

In 1968, their hit single “The Darkness and the Night” began gaining popularity on regional radio, catching the attention of major record labels like Warner Bros. and Columbia Records. The band was on the cusp of a major breakthrough, but unfortunately, life’s demands forced them to disband during crucial contract negotiations. The members had to follow separate paths due to the Vietnam War draft and Christian missions, leaving behind over 45 unreleased songs.

The Grimm is now back in action, not simply living off their past success but actively working on creating new music. The lead single from their upcoming album, “Hit Me Now,” is already making waves and is being considered for a Grammy nomination. Their subsequent release, “Crawlin’,” has been met with widespread fan enthusiasm since its debut on September 8.

Fans of all ages have taken to social media platforms to celebrate The Grimm’s return, bridging a 50-year gap between generations. Longtime listeners reminisce about their earlier music, while newer fans eagerly anticipate their latest releases. The band’s music, including their new singles and past albums, is available for streaming on popular platforms like Spotify, with their fifth studio album, Grimm Fairy Tales, set for full release in the near future.

The Grimm’s resurgence is a testament to the timelessness of their music and the enduring impact they have had on fans across the decades. From their humble beginnings in the 1960s to their unexpected rediscovery and triumphant return, The Grimm’s story is one of perseverance, creativity, and the unbreakable bond between artists and their audience.
