False Advertising is making a triumphant return with their latest single, ‘The Sorry Window.’ The Manchester-based alt-rock band is giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come with this eagerly awaited track set to be released on September 26, 2025.

Following on from their 2024 hit ‘Don’t Ask Me,’ this new single is just a taste of the larger body of work that False Advertising has in store. This new release comes after the departure of their drummer Chris Warr, their standalone single ‘Personal Space’ in 2021, and their previous album ‘Brainfreeze.’

‘The Sorry Window,’ a nod to a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode, marks an exciting development in the band’s sound. While their grunge-influenced alt-rock vibe remains, there’s a hint of indie-pop in this new track. Despite its upbeat exterior, a closer listen reveals a bittersweet undertone of nostalgia for missed opportunities and regrets. The timing of this release couldn’t be more perfect, as we transition from the warmth of summer into the chill of autumn.

The music video for ‘The Sorry Window,’ filmed by the band in Anglesey, offers a visual narrative that complements the song’s emotional depth. With snippets of the band performing at the 2000 Trees Festival, the video follows a protagonist as they revisit places from a happier past, imbued with a longing to make amends and find closure.

Crafted during a time of uncertainty, ‘The Sorry Window’ began as a DIY recording by Jen Hingley in various Manchester rehearsal spaces, with Josh Sellers later adding bass elements. The track was later finalized at The Church Studios in London, with long-time collaborator Luke Pickering on production and mixing duties. Kevin Tuffy handled the mastering in Berlin, adding the finishing touches to the track.

False Advertising’s recent activities hint at more exciting developments on the horizon, including live performances. The band has already teased a short headline tour and appearances at various festivals such as Manchester Punk Festival, Duck & Dive Festival, and Strangeforms. With previous performances alongside the likes of Jamie Lenman, Everything Everything, and Idles, False Advertising has earned a solid reputation as a remarkable live act.

Since the release of ‘Brainfreeze’ in 2019, False Advertising has garnered over 1 million streams on Spotify. Their track ‘Don’t Ask Me’ has been featured on prominent playlists like All New Rock, showcasing the band’s growing influence in the music scene. Additionally, their EP of covers released in 2022 raised an impressive sum for charity within just 72 hours, demonstrating their commitment to important causes.

As fans eagerly await the release of ‘The Sorry Window’ on September 26, False Advertising continues to captivate audiences with their unique sound and compelling storytelling. This latest offering promises to be a poignant addition to their already impressive discography, setting the stage for more exciting music from this talented band.
