Slash announces upcoming Guns N’ Roses album

According to Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, the iconic rock band is on the cusp of creating a new album, but details about its release date are still under wraps. Although fans eagerly anticipate this new musical offering, Slash hinted that it may be some time before they can enjoy it.

In a recent interview with Guitar World, Slash revealed that there is a wealth of material waiting to be explored, but the challenge lies in mustering the focus and dedication to delve into it. Expressing the unpredictable nature of the band’s creative process, Slash explained that planning album releases in advance often leads to disarray among band members. Instead, the magic typically happens spontaneously when inspired, igniting a flurry of musical creativity.

Reflecting on the band’s artistic process, Slash admitted, “It just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it. And the next thing you know, it’s off and running.” Despite the uncertainty surrounding the album’s timeline, Slash assured fans that everyone in the band is actively considering and preparing for its creation. He emphasized that the album’s completion will unfold organically when the time is right.

Joining the anticipation, bassist Duff McKagan hinted at the band’s venture into unfamiliar creative territory back in 2019. In an interview with Trunk Nation, McKagan disclosed that new, original compositions were in the pipeline. He expressed uncertainty regarding the album’s format, contemplating whether they would release a full album or opt for a series of singles in today’s music landscape.

While fans eagerly await this upcoming album, it is worth noting that Guns N’ Roses released the four-song EP “Hard Skill” in 2022. This limited release, available exclusively through the band’s official store, included the new tracks “Hard Skill” and “Absurd,” as well as live versions of “Don’t Cry” and “You’re Crazy.” The band’s last full-length album, “Chinese Democracy,” was released in 2008 after a prolonged 17-year gap since their previous album.

With the forthcoming album, fans hope for a more cohesive unit as the band aims to deliver a reunion album featuring the original lineup.
