Guns N’ Roses working on new album, release date still unknown
Guns N’ Roses recently revealed exciting news about their upcoming music projects, hinting at a new album in the works. While the band shared insights into their creative process, they remained tight-lipped about an official release date. Guitarist Slash spoke to Guitar World magazine, expressing the abundance of material they have to work with. He emphasized the importance of discipline when it comes to diving into the music-making process.
For Guns N’ Roses, creating music is a spontaneous and unpredictable journey. Slash emphasized that planning ahead is often challenging with their dynamic and ever-evolving creative process. The band’s last studio album, Chinese Democracy, was released in 2008, with Slash and Duff McKagan taking a hiatus from the group. Their last collaborative recording was the cover collection, The Spaghetti Incident?, back in 1993. However, since reuniting in 2016, the band has ignited a fresh wave of creativity.
In recent years, Guns N’ Roses treated fans to new music with the release of four tracks. Songs like “Absurd” and “Hard Skool” made waves in 2021, while “Perhaps” and “The General” captivated audiences in 2023. These releases breathed new life into the band’s extensive catalog of music, showcasing their enduring talent and musical prowess.
McKagan alluded to the possibility of more music on the horizon, hinting at upcoming material in the works. However, the method of releasing this new music remains uncertain. He pondered whether a full album release or a succession of singles would be more fitting in the modern music landscape. This uncertainty reflects the band’s willingness to adapt to the evolving music industry and explore different avenues for sharing their music with fans.
A significant lineup change occurred when Frank Ferrer stepped away from the band after two decades as the drummer. AWOLNATION’s Isaac Carpenter stepped in to join Axl Rose, Slash, McKagan, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, and Melissa Reese in the current lineup. This shift brings a fresh dynamic to the band’s live performances and future music projects.
Guns N’ Roses embarked on a massive world tour in 2025, starting in Saudi Arabia and headlining at Wembley Stadium for the first time since 1992. The band is captivating audiences across South America and will continue to thrill fans in various locations, including Barcelona, Munich, Warsaw, and Vienna. Fans can stay updated on their upcoming tour dates and secure tickets through the band’s official website.
