Rob Zombie Returns to His Hellbilly Roots with ‘The Great Satan’ Release Set for February 27
Rob Zombie, the infamous heavy metal figure driven by horror, is set to release his eighth studio album, The Great Satan, on February 27 through Nuclear Blast Records. This upcoming album, following the 2021 release of The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy, promises a return to the intense, insane sound reminiscent of Zombie’s Hellbilly Deluxe era.
After a four-year hiatus, Zombie’s new single, Punks And Demons, is a powerful, high-energy track that showcases chainsaw riffs and Zombie’s signature carnival-of-hell aesthetic. Directed by Zombie himself, the music video is a chaotic blend of punk, horror, and sci-fi elements, creating a nightmarish visual experience that complements the music perfectly.
The tracklist for The Great Satan includes songs like F.T.W. 84, Tarantula, Revolution Motherfuckers, and many more, capturing the essence of Zombie’s unique style. Born as Robert Bartleh Cummings in 1965 in Massachusetts, Rob Zombie’s upbringing in the world of carnival workers played a significant role in shaping his dark and macabre creativity. Transitioning to New York to pursue a design degree at Parsons School of Design, Zombie co-founded the band White Zombie with Sean Yseult in the 1980s.
White Zombie rose to fame in the early ’90s with their blend of metal, industrial noise, and horror imagery. Their album La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1, featuring the hit song Thunder Kiss ’65, achieved double platinum status, setting the stage for their success with the follow-up album Astro-Creep: 2000.
