Iron Maiden’s “Live After Death” to be reissued on vinyl for 40th anniversary
Iron Maiden, the British heavy metal band, is celebrating the 40th anniversary of their highly successful 1985 live album “Live After Death” with a special vinyl reissue set to release on November 28th. Parlophone Records will be managing this reissue, which will include many special features designed to commemorate this milestone. The album will come in two 140g vinyl records, one in blue and the other in yellow, with the 2015 audio remastering. In addition to the records, the package will contain a replica of the original tour program, a tour pass replica, and a glossy 12-page booklet. This booklet will feature both the original eight-page booklet and a new essay titled ‘Rime And Punishment: Celebrating 40 Years Of Live After Death’, which includes an interview with the band members and acclaimed illustrator Derek Riggs conducted by Iron Maiden fan club editor Alexander Milas.
In reflecting on the time surrounding the original release of the album, band’s bassist and vocalist Steve Harris shared his thoughts on the band’s rigorous touring schedule and their willingness to take on the challenges presented to them at the time. He emphasized their relentless work ethic, stating, “We were touring our arses off. It was literally just, ‘record, tour, record, tour’ – we didn’t stop.” Harris also acknowledged the pivotal role of the band’s manager, Rod Smallwood, in keeping them on track and maintaining their momentum. Despite facing an uphill battle due to a lack of radio play during that period, the band’s commitment to their craft and their desire to conquer new heights drove them forward.
Fans of Iron Maiden can now preorder the 40th-anniversary vinyl reissue of “Live After Death” through the band’s official website.
