Sugar reunite after 30 years, share new song
Sugar, the trio founded by Bob Mould after the dissolution of Hüsker Dü, has officially reunited. They have treated fans to their first new music in over three decades with the release of the song ‘House Of Dead Memories’. This exciting news comes alongside the announcement of their upcoming live shows in London and New York featuring the original lineup.
Mark your calendars for May 2 and 3, 2026, as Sugar is set to perform at New York City’s Webster Hall. Following these shows, they will take the stage in London at O2 Forum Kentish Town on May 23 and 24, 2026. Bob Mould, bassist David Barbe, and drummer Malcolm Travis will reunite for these highly anticipated performances, marking an unforgettable return for the trio.
To celebrate their reunion and the 30th anniversary of their debut album ‘Copper Blue’, Sugar will release ‘Copper Blue – The Singles Collection’. This limited edition 4xLP box set is scheduled to be available on November 28 during this year’s Record Store Day Black Friday event. Fans can expect classic tracks from the band’s catalog, as well as B-sides and live recordings from their 1992 show at Chicago’s Cabaret Metro.
Reflecting on the band’s journey, Bob Mould expressed, “Sugar was a meteorite. I spent all of 1991 crafting new music and performing solo. Forming a bond with David and Malcolm, we became a force to be reckoned with. Sugar was born out of dedication and hard work. We recorded ‘Copper Blue’ and ‘Beaster’ in a whirlwind period, and by summer 1992, our music was perfectly timed for the world.”
Malcolm Travis shared his excitement about Sugar’s return, stating, “The reunion of Sugar is a dream come true after so many years. The memories we created during our brief time together still amaze me. From traveling, performing, recording, to meeting incredible supporters, it was a whirlwind experience.
