Uncle Strut, a band from Vancouver, has been making waves in the Canadian music scene in 2025. Comprised of Tyson McNamara, Simon Tejani, Quincy Flowers, and Jasper Matthias, the band has built a significant local following over the past few years. Their music style blends elements of ’70s rock with a surf vibe, creating a unique sound that sets them apart. With a steady stream of singles and their debut album ‘Home at Last’ released this year, Uncle Strut is making a name for themselves with their diverse rock anthems that showcase their willingness to experiment with different sounds.

Despite starting back in 2021, it was this year that marked the band’s first extensive tour outside of British Columbia. Previously, they had a few shows in Ontario in 2023, which they jokingly referred to as a “vacation” rather than work. However, 2025 saw them embark on the ‘Home at Last Tour’ across Canada, including a stop at the Horseshoe Tavern in June and now gearing up for a show at Lee’s Palace in Toronto. This tour marks a significant milestone for the band, fulfilling their dream of releasing an album and going on a comprehensive tour to support it.

Speaking to the band on Zoom from their British Columbia home, it’s evident that Uncle Strut shares a special bond beyond just being bandmates. Each member exudes passion and excitement for creating music together, constantly bouncing ideas off each other and laughing along the way. As they reminisce about the past year, it’s clear that they are truly living their dream and enjoying every moment of it. Their camaraderie and genuine friendship shine through in their music, creating a positive and fun atmosphere that is infectious to anyone who listens to their songs.

Despite facing challenges, such as welcoming Jasper Matthias into the band just last year, Uncle Strut has only grown stronger and closer as a unit. Matthias’ addition has brought a new energy to the group, solidifying their bond and pushing them to new heights in their music. As they continue to evolve and experiment with their sound, Uncle Strut remains committed to creating music that is authentic to who they are as individuals and as a group. Their dedication, passion, and love for music are palpable in every song they create, making them a band to watch in the Canadian music scene.
