Portsmouth-based rock and blues band, Brave Rival, dropped their newest EP, “5 to 4,” on the 17th of October, alongside the music video release of their single “Wild Child.” Following the edgy “Let Me Rock n Roll,” “Wild Child” closes the EP on a high note. Featuring robust guitar riffs, energetic drumming, and a catchy chorus, this classic rock anthem boasts entertaining lyrics bound to captivate fans.

Bassist Billy Dedman provided insight into how “Wild Child” came to life, noting that it began with an infectious riff over a shuffle. Dedman and the band faced challenges in nailing down the right chords and feel for the song but eventually found the winning combination. Drummer Donna Peters chimed in, expressing her love for the syncopated vocal parts in the chorus and how it merges seamlessly with the floor tom beats introduced in the track’s intro.

The 5 to 4 EP marks a new era for Brave Rival as they delve into this record as a newly formed quartet. The EP serves as a testament to their broad spectrum of rock and blues influences, capturing the essence of the band’s musical identity. Vocalist Lindsey Bonnick described the EP as a result of the band’s urge to showcase their evolved sound as a four-piece unit as they celebrate their love for rock and blues music. Guitarist Ed ‘the Shred’ Clarke reinforced the band’s commitment to delivering raw and powerful music as a standalone quartet, emphasizing the record’s authenticity and strength.
