Foghat receives plaque for reaching 25 million plays on Apple Music
Foghat, the iconic rock band, continues to amass accolades from their devoted fan base, demonstrating that they have no intentions of slowing down anytime soon. Following the triumph of their 50th Anniversary Edition of “FOOL FOR THE CITY,” Foghat celebrated a remarkable achievement of 25 million plays of their classic tune “Slow Ride” on Apple Music. During their recent performance at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester, MA, Foghat was pleasantly surprised when presented with a striking commemorative plaque acknowledging this milestone.
In their typical Foghat style, the band ensured that the original creators of the song, Lonesome Dave Peverett, Rod Price, and Nick Jameson, received deserving recognition. Plaques were dispatched to Peverett’s and Price’s families as a tribute while one was sent to Jameson’s home in Reykjavik, Iceland. Foghat’s upcoming tour takes them back to their roots in the U.K. this November, marking their return to their homeland for the first time since the early 70s. Their performance at the HRH Prog Festival in Great Yarmouth and O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Manchester’s Band on the Wall will surely captivate their British fans.
Roger Earl, the band’s founding drummer, expressed his anticipation for reconnecting with their U.K. supporters, emphasizing the joy they derive from performing live. Their platinum-selling album, “FOOL FOR THE CITY,” originally released in 1975, received a 50th Anniversary Edition from Rhino Records, featuring remastered original tracks and a bonus disc with electrifying live recordings from 1975 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.
Nick Jameson, a multifaceted bassist and producer, curated the live tracks, capturing the band’s robust energy. Mixing and mastering the recordings himself in Reykjavik, Iceland, Jameson’s work encapsulates the essence of authentic rock music. The CD version of the anniversary edition includes bonus live tracks and an insightful interview with Roger Earl and Jameson about the inception of “Slow Ride” and the magic of the recording sessions for “FOOL FOR THE CITY.”
Foghat’s most recent studio album, “SONIC MOJO,” with the current lineup comprising Roger Earl, Bryan Bassett, Scott Holt, and Rodney O’Quinn, debuted at #1 on the Billboard “Blues Album” chart, remaining in the Top 10 for an impressive 34 weeks. Looking ahead, Foghat is set to enter the studio to record their upcoming album scheduled for release in 2026. As the “Slow Ride” 50th Anniversary tour unfolds, fans can anticipate the band’s 2026 “TWANG & BANG” Tour, exemplifying Foghat’s enduring legacy and commitment to their craft.
