In the music world, the term “hiatus” is typically used to describe artists who take long breaks between projects to rejuvenate creatively. Renowned artists like Fiona Apple and Lorde have taken extended periods of radio silence between album releases, much to the dismay of their fans. Therefore, it came as a surprise to Reneé Rapp when she was labeled as being on hiatus after less than two years without new solo music.

Refuting these claims, Rapp expressed her confusion during a Zoom call in early October, where she clarified that she had been actively performing at music festivals almost every other weekend and working on a new album simultaneously. Despite facing minor setbacks like battling a fever with antibiotics, she remained dedicated to her craft. Rapp recounted moments like performing with food poisoning on Christmas Eve, proving her resilience and commitment to her artistry.

Since gaining acclaim for her role as Regina George in the Broadway musical “Mean Girls” at the age of 19, Rapp has ventured into television, reprised her iconic character in a movie adaptation of “Mean Girls,” and released an EP along with two full-length albums. Her debut album, “Snow Angel,” in 2023 received widespread praise, and she followed it up with her latest release, “Bite Me,” which came out in August. Subsequently, she embarked on her Bite Me Tour, making a stop at the Kia Forum soon after.

Rapp’s packed schedule debunks the notion of any significant hiatus, as she not only stayed active but also remained focused on creating quality music. Regarding her alleged break, she expressed that her only real downtime was making a conscious decision to prioritize quality over quantity when it came to releasing music. This deliberate approach allowed her to concentrate on crafting songs that she was proud of, ensuring that each track on her new album, “Bite Me,” boasted her signature style and artistry.

In sum, Reneé Rapp has proven that productivity and passion for her craft supersede any perceived hiatus. By balancing her acting and music careers, she has showcased her versatility and dedication to creating meaningful art. As she continues on her Bite Me Tour and captivates audiences with her talent, it is clear that Reneé Rapp is back in the spotlight, stronger and more vibrant than ever.
