Fans had eagerly anticipated “Songs of a Lost World” as The Cure had not released a studio album since “4:13 Dream” back in 2008. Despite continuing to perform live, new music had been scarce. According to Smith, the upcoming album showcases a more transitional phase for the band. The band’s latest album, “Mixes of a Lost World,” was released last June and features remixes and reworks by various artists, including Mogwai, Four Tet, Paul Oakenfold, Chino Moreno, and Orbital.
In a surprising turn of events, Smith teamed up with Olivia Rodrigo during her Glastonbury headlining performance, where they performed some of The Cure’s classic hits. The website update also teased a cinematic project in the works, alluding to Smith’s involvement in the re-editing and remixing of “The Show Of A Lost World” film.
