Haircut 100 announces first new album with Nick Heyward in over 40 years
In an exciting turn of events for fans of ‘80s pop music, Haircut 100 has announced their collaboration with lead singer Nick Heyward to release their first new album in over 40 years. Titled “Boxing The Compass,” the album is set to be released in March and marks the band’s first full-length project with Heyward since their debut album, “Pelican West,” in 1982.
The journey to this new album began with the release of Haircut 100’s single, “The Unloving Plum,” in 2024, followed by their most recent single, “Dynamite,” in October 16. Their subsequent writing and recording sessions, led by Sean Read at Famous Times studio in East London, reignited their creativity and revealed that they still had that special connection that made their music unique. The tracklist for “Boxing The Compass” includes songs such as “Vanishing Point,” “The Unloving Plum,” “That’s A Start,” “Dynamite,” “Come Back To Me,” “Someone,” “A Wonderful Life,” “Soul Bird,” “Raincloud,” and “Sunshine.” Fans can expect a blend of nostalgic hits and fresh tunes that showcase Haircut 100’s evolution as a band.
Renowned for hits like “Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl),” “Nobody’s Fool,” and “Fantastic Day,” Haircut 100 made waves in the early 1980s with their infectious pop sound. They also found success in the U.S. with the single “Love Plus One,” which reached No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Following Heyward’s departure from the group in 1983, Haircut 100’s 1984 album, “Paint and Paint,” featured Marc Fox as the lead vocalist.
