MacD discusses the live performance of “Heat Of The Moment” in Ireland
Earlier this year, Parker bid farewell after an entertaining ride, culminating in a brilliant farewell show at the launch of TRAMP’s EP ‘BIMBOFICATION’. However, former Parker frontman Dylan Bradley made a triumphant return this August with his new venture, Dylan Bradley & the Heat, releasing the single ‘Makes Me Feel Good’. In a recent interview, Dylan shared insights about his new band and the creation of the new track.
When Parker began to wind down, Dylan, determined to continue writing music, sought a new direction. He aimed to pivot away from the traditional band structure and focused more on creating original music. Collaborating with his friend Caolán Austin, who produced, co-wrote, and played various instruments on the track, Dylan poured his creative energy into crafting new songs. This led to the birth of Dylan Bradley & the Heat. Dylan emphasized that there is no grand plan with the project, stating, “There’s no big plan, just a desire to create music and see where it takes us.”
Regarding the identity of the Heat, Dylan revealed that the lineup varies depending on the occasion. He described the Heat as a fluid entity, adapting to different settings and gigs. Whether in the studio or on stage, the Heat comprises different musicians, changing from one performance to the next. The versatile nature of the Heat allows for diverse musical experiences and contributions from various artists.
Discussing ‘Makes Me Feel Good’, Dylan recounted the challenges faced in releasing the track on streaming platforms. Despite these hurdles, the song found its way onto Bandcamp and received airplay on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing. Dylan described the song as a surreal, empowering anthem written from the perspective of a fictitious character devoid of empathy, resonating with a carefree and unapologetic attitude. While the lyrics reflect the character’s disregard for others, Dylan clarified that the song isn’t autobiographical but rather a creation from his vivid imagination.
Thematically, ‘Makes Me Feel Good’ is characterized by a mix of intensity and release, capturing the essence of liberation and catharsis. Musically inspired by MJ Lende, the song exudes a powerful energy that invites listeners to immerse themselves in the unfettered spirit of the track. With its anthemic quality and emotive depth, ‘Makes Me Feel Good’ showcases Dylan Bradley & the Heat’s ability to craft compelling narratives through music. As the band continues to explore and evolve, their dynamic and eclectic sound promises an exciting musical journey for both the band and their audience.
