Rotgut releases music video for “Bonemelter”

Seattle-based band Rotgut has recently released a music video for their track “Bonemelter”, which is part of their debut EP, 24 oz. Cantrip. The video showcases clips from various b-horror movies and pays tribute to the schlock and gore of the genre. The montage features classic films like Auntie Lee’s Meat Pies, Evil Laugh, Microwave Massacre, Rabid Grannies, and Tromeo & Juliet.

The EP, 24 oz. Cantrip, consists of five tracks that the band describes as “booze-soaked thrash fury infused with the unholy union of punk attitude and blackened aggression”. The EP is available for streaming and can also be purchased as a limited-edition VHS-style cassette.

In addition to the music video release, Rotgut has shared the official story behind the EP, which revolves around a horned figure in a musty cellar attempting to summon Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos. However, the ritual goes wrong, resulting in the emergence of two “bumbling homunculi” from a spiralling portal. The chaotic scene, fueled by cheap beer and whiskey, culminates in hazmat-suited figures bursting in and tasering the creatures into submission, an event now known as ROTGUT’s ill-fated 24 oz. Cantrip.

According to the band’s biography, Rotgut was formed against the members’ will by a faceless shadow organization in 2024. The three members, designated as FD, C19, and AX, escaped their concrete prison with the common goal of creating an extreme metal band inspired by crust punk, rock ‘n’ roll, and classic schlock.
