2026 Rock Legends Tribute Festival Comes to Skellefteå
A new rock festival is making its way to Skellefteå with the Tribute to Rock concept. The festival, set to take place in August, promises free admission and a lineup of various bands for attendees to enjoy. Niclas Lagerstam, the brain behind the concept, expressed his enthusiasm for expanding into Norrland and choosing Skellefteå as the next destination.
Lagerstam emphasized his confidence in Skellefteå as a potential long-term host for the festival, stating that while evaluation is necessary, a multi-year plan is already in place. The origins of the festival date back to 2024 when it first debuted in Stockholm and Karlstad. Following its success in these cities, the decision was made to expand to five locations, including Malmö, Gothenburg, and now Skellefteå.
Explaining the rationale for selecting Skellefteå, Lagerstam highlighted its strategic geographical location and the anticipation of attendees coming from neighboring cities. Tribute To Rock is distinctive for showcasing tribute bands honoring rock legends like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Queen, Kiss, Black Sabbath, and Metallica. The festival in Skellefteå will center around the town square, featuring at least one stage for performances.
A large tent capable of accommodating up to 3,000 to 4,000 people will be erected to house the festival. The tent’s design allows for an open-air feel, extending the event space towards the kulturhus, with provisions made to ensure the shows can go on rain or shine. Attendees can expect a robust lineup of bands throughout the day and evening, complemented by food and beverage options available for purchase on-site.
