Denton’s Midlake will soon be delighting fans with the release of their latest album, “A Bridge to Far,” on November 7. This album marks the band’s third release following the transition to lead singer Eric Pulido from original vocalist Tim Smith back in 2012. The title of the album is a deliberate choice, symbolizing the band’s commitment to exploring new paths and approaches in their music.

The musical influences of bands like Genesis and Pink Floyd are evident in Midlake’s sound, characterized by a blend of folk and progressive rock elements. Tracks like “The Calling” showcase the band’s signature style, featuring intricate instrumentation and haunting melodies, including a captivating saxophone duel. Another standout track from the album is “Days Gone By,” a piece enriched with the ethereal sound of a flute. The accompanying music video for this song features British actor James Lance, known for his role in “Ted Lasso,” embodying the spirit of classic musical films like “Singin’ in the Rain” in a lighthearted dance sequence.

Prior to embarking on an upcoming tour of Europe, Midlake will be treating local fans to a special album-release concert in North Texas. The event, featuring an opening performance by Paul Schalda, is scheduled for November 15 at Tulips in Fort Worth. Tickets for the concert can be purchased on the venue’s website for $34.

This exciting new chapter in Midlake’s musical journey highlights the band’s dedication to innovation and creativity. As they continue to explore new sounds and lyrical themes, fans can expect to be drawn into a world where sonic landscapes and storytelling intertwine to create a unique and captivating listening experience. Stay tuned for more updates and announcements from this talented group as they grace stages around the world with their soulful, evocative music.
