Musicians from Alabama perform with Marilyn Manson at legendary venue
Alabama musicians recently took the stage at the iconic Viper Room in West Hollywood, joined by none other than the infamous singer Marilyn Manson. This collaboration was a unique moment as Manson made a guest appearance with James Hall’s band, The Ladies Of …, at the well-known venue on October 23. The band features talented Alabama musicians, including Woa Hahne Bla’de [aka Jim Troglen] and Mark Patrick on guitar, James Wahl on bass, and Atlanta drummer Jack Massey, who is a University of Alabama graduate.
During the performance, Manson sang two songs with The Ladies Of … – a cover of Pleasure Club’s “You Want Love” and a cover of Hall’s solo tune “So Precious.” Hall expressed his admiration for Manson, mentioning how Manson was a fan of Pleasure Club and traveled to see their shows at a young age. Manson, clad in a black shirt, leather pants, and boots, shared his appreciation for Hall, stating that he had been an idol since they first met when Manson was just 20 years old.
Videos from the performance showcase Manson’s haunting vocals blending seamlessly with The Ladies Of …’s music. Mark Patrick and Jim Troglen, band members, described the experience of performing with Manson as fantastic and emphasized Manson’s respect and admiration for Hall’s work. The Viper Room, known for its intimate setting and history, has been graced by numerous iconic figures, with Manson now adding to the venue’s rich tapestry.
Despite Manson’s controversial past and recent allegations, he continues to attract a dedicated fan base and maintain a significant presence in the music industry. His collaboration with The Ladies Of … brought together a diverse audience, including notable figures like MTV VJ Matt Pinfield, producer Shooter Jennings, and Americana artist Charlie Crockett. The band’s repertoire includes songs from their albums, covers of iconic tracks like Waylon Jennings’ “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way,” and surprising renditions that captivate audiences.
James Hall, the frontman of The Ladies Of …, may not be a household name, but his influence in the music industry is undeniable. With a career spanning several decades, Hall has collaborated with renowned musicians and bands, leaving a lasting impact on those he works with. The band’s latest single, “I’m From The Bush,” showcases their versatility and ability to resonate with fans of diverse music genres.
Looking ahead, The Ladies Of … are set to perform at The Camp in Huntsville on October 30 as part of the ShinDigital event, headlined by the talented Pynk Beard. This event, organized by Chase Morrow, promises to be a memorable night of music and celebration.
