Alleged stalker used dating app to send strangers to victim’s home for more than a year, authorities say

A man from Wisconsin was apprehended on Tuesday on charges of stalking after authorities revealed that he had employed the Grindr app to dispatch unknown individuals to a victim’s residence in an act of harassment. The individual in question, Matthew J. Huebschman, stands accused of engaging in a year-long campaign of vexatious and invasive conduct. Law enforcement has disclosed that Huebschman utilized the Grindr dating platform to orchestrate encounters between strangers and the victim.

Huebschman purportedly assumed the identity of the victim, guiding the men to the victim’s home, and advising them to enter the premises upon their arrival. Over the span of more than a year, a multitude of men were directed to the victim’s abode under false pretenses. Police stated that this malicious behavior instilled a perpetual sense of fear and anguish in the victim and their household. The suspect reportedly positioned himself close by to observe the arrival of these men, leading to his subsequent arrest.

Following his apprehension, Huebschman was transported to the Outagamie County Jail on a single count of stalking. He made a court appearance on Wednesday, during which a judge set a bond of $10,000. The judge also issued a directive for Huebschman to steer clear of the victim and refrain from engaging with dating applications, including Grindr. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for November 7 in Outagamie County Court.
